R&D Center Overview

NewAtom’s new 75,000 sq. ft. R&D, with capacity for 100+ fume hoods and 300+ scientists, integrates Process R&D, Analytical R&D, Process Safety & Engineering, High Potent and Kilo-scale operations under one roof.

Process Development Labs

Designed for safety and operational ease, our process R&D labs are very spacious with 10ft gap between fumehoods and lab bench. The labs are equipped with high-performance energy efficient fumehoods, with online monitoring of lab health.

The labs are equipped with the following key-equipment:

  • Automated double jacketed cylindrical reactors
  • Parallel synthesizers
  • Flash Purification System
  • Autoclaves for High Pressure Reactions
  • Rotavapors & Chillers
  • Peristaltic & Syringe Pumps

Analytical Labs

With a comprehensive set of analytical equipment, the Analytical R&D teams at NewAtom are well equipped to perform Method Development and validation activities. The team focuses on relentless accuracy and repeatability.

The key equipment available are:

  • Separation & quantification: HPLC, GC, GC-HS, Prep-HPLC
  • Mass & structural analysis: Single and Triple-Quadrupole LCMS
  • Thermal & solid-state characterization: DSC, TGA
  • Classical analytical tools: Karl Fischer titration, coulometry, polarimetry, FT-IR
  • Analytical balances and stability support

The facility has ample room to add more equipment as and when required.

Process Safety & Engineering Lab

It serves as the perfect bridge between the lab and the plant, enabling proactive preparation for any scale-up challenges.

Ensuring safe scale-up right from the proposal stage, we use the following equipment:

  • Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)
  • Accelerating Rate Calorimeter (ARC)

To mimic plant conditions for reliable scale-up, we use the following miniature equipment:

  • Automated Glass Reactors
  • Micronizer
  • Centrifuge
  • Pressure Nutsche Filter (PNF)
  • Agitated Nutsche Filter Dryer (ANFD)
  • Rotarycone Vaccuum Drier (RCVD)

For robust crystallization, polymorphic studies and particle engineering, we use the following equipment:

  • EasyMix
  • EasyViewer

HPAPI Lab

Dedicated & Isolated HPAPI lab designed for safe and efficient handling of High Potent Compounds and Payloads. Some of the highlights are:

  • Contained Fumehoods with Glove Ports
  • Can operate up to OEB 5 (OEL <1 μg/m3) containment mechanism
  • Once through HVAC system with HEPA filters and wet scrubbers

Kilo lab

The R&D center also houses a dedicated Kilo-Scale Laboratory designed to support small-batch production prior to transfer to the manufacturing site. The facility is equipped with the following equipment to facilitate seamless and efficient scale-up:

  • All-Glass Reactors: 5L, 10L, 20L, and 50L
  • Downstream equipment: Agitated Nutsche Filter Dryer (ANFD), Pressure Nutsche Filter (PNF), Rotavapor, & Vacuum Tray Dryer (VTD)
